Watch Dragonball Z:Battle of Gods Review

<a href="http://www.yoanime.com/2013/09/dragon-ball-z-movie-14-battle-of-gods.html">Dragonball Z: Battle of Gods</a> is the latest DBZ movie released and 17 years after the last one was released. It opens up with the Kais in a panic because Lord Bills, the God of Destruction, has woken up from his decades slumber early, and as his name makes clear, he’s not only more powerful than all the Kais but he is in the habit of using that power to destroy planets and galaxies when he is displeased. Goku, who is training on King Kai’s planet, overhears the Kais discussing this and since he’s always up for fighting a powerful opponent, is eager to meet Lord Bills. Lord Bills saw in a dream, as well as being told by an Oracle, that he would face a formidable foe and he refers to this foe as Super Saiyan God and wants to find this Super Saiyan God. Can the universe survive while Lord Bills is awake, or will his quest to find this Super Saiyan God come up empty and result in him destroying galaxies out of frustration? Awesome dragon is also hesitated against the lord bills :D<br />

I was looking forward to this movie ever since it was announced because I’m a big Dragonball Z fan and it’s been 17 years since the last movie but I admit I wasn’t sure what to expect. The trailer looked incredible and only fueled my excitement, so I did have somewhat high expectations of this movie. The premise was simple, an incredibly powerful yet volatile god waking from his slumber and searching for something called the Super Saiyan God so he could enjoy a fight. So Lord Bills is not an evil foe nor does he have any plans like Frieza or Cell to dominate a planet or galaxy, and his powers greatly exceeds the power of the Kais. So when he arrives on King Kai’s planet to meet Goku and inquire about the SSG. Goku tells Lord Bills that he’s never heard of the SSG and to the horror of King Kai, who is showing Lord Bills the utmost courtesy, Lord Bills grants Goku his wish and Goku demonstrates the different levels of being a Super Saiyan, and even though he’s hesitant to attack Lord Bills with his full power since it’s a friendly match, he does so at the urging of Lord Bills and is beaten extremely easy at SS3 with two hits. So the power of Lord Bills is not a myth.<br />

Vegeta is fully aware of how important it is to treat Lord Bills as an esteemed guest and not anger him. And it just so happens that it’s Bulma’s birthday so everyone is there just having a good time.
There are some humorous moments as Vegeta is the only one who actually knows who Lord Bills is and even though everyone else is treating him with respect, they don’t fully grasp Vegeta’s behavior in going overboard to appease Lord Bills. DBZ the series or any of the movies then you already know that humor could be a big part of it so there’s nothing unusual about the humor, even when the humor does seem silly for a little while. Emperor Pilaf and his band makes an appearance so that can be expected since they are no threat in any situation at this point. If you understand that Lord Bills is not truly an enemy then it has its entertaining moments.<br />

There is action and even though what sets Lord Bills off is silly, and acknowledged as such later, the threat becomes very real and I was fascinated from Lord Bills handling the Z Fighters in the ways that he did. Of course Vegeta gets in the mix and if you’re a huge fan of Vegeta, there is some great fanservice here, including what allowed Vegeta to exceed his current level. There were no excessively long stand offs in this movie, and the later justification for the inevitable final battle between Lord Bills and this foe he seeks is ok. This part made me wish there was less Emperor Pilaf and more of everything else. The action sequences one would expect from a DBZ movie doesn’t disappoint, and the conclusion, in my opinion, would be a great starting point for more DBZ storylines.</div>

In the movie the cyborgs are working for various powers; such as the American NSA, the British secret service or even trying to run their own restaurant chain. However, a series of bombings that have toppled towers in scenes reminiscent of 9/11 has proven to be such a threat to world peace that they’re getting back together to investigate.</div>

The film, wonderfully animated and perfectly paced, follows the drama as it unfolds and escalates. The situation is already bad with these dreadful suicide bombings but manages to escalate quickly.</div>

The ending is sudden an unexpected. Anime is prone to running out of cash and quickly throwing together a minute or two or closing scenes that attempt to bring the story back down to earth, to hint at closure while leaving the option open for more. Perhaps that’s what happened here. Perhaps Kenji Kamiyama intended to have 009 Re: Cyborg as an open book, not to answer questions like “is there a God” and to leave that speculation to the audience or perhaps everyone died and made it to heaven.</div>

I really enjoyed 009 Re: Cyborg and although the strange and slightly surreal ending threatened that enjoyment slightly it didn’t manage to ruin it for me. I suspect 009 Re: Cyborg will be one of those anime films that fans like to talk about. That’ll help generate word of mouth interest which, I hope, benefits both Production I.G. and Anime Limited.</div>

If you didn't know already, the movie wraps up all the main events from the three G.U. games all into one nice package with a little extra. This movie is probably more for the fans than anything else. There’s a lot of places in the movie that seemed rushed and might not make any sense for viewers who haven’t played the games or know of the story already. That being said, I still think the trilogy movie is pretty good if not for the visuals alone.</div>

Pretty much the same as the games only with a few minor tweaks and changes. Haseo sports a new form in which he becomes much like a berserk beast. While not mentioned in the movie, I believe the new form is called “B-st” form, but I could be wrong. Certain events are placed at different times in the story. For example, it seems Haseo doesn't activate his avatar until he faces Kite and not earlier during the arena matches. Also, Atoli does not attempt to befriend Haseo until after he’s through with the matches as well. Those changes in event order are a bit trivial, but still a little odd for someone who’s played the games.</div>

Probably the main complaint is that the movie seems way too rushed (for me at least). The story just seemed to progress a bit too quickly. One minute he’s at the first fight against Kite and then ten minutes later he’s already through the arena matches. Even for someone who doesn’t already know the story, the pacing might seem too fast.</div>

Another thing is that a lot of the supporting characters were left out of the movie. This again is something a fan would only notice. But the only characters to have a significant role in the movie are perhaps only Haseo, Ovan, Atoli and to some extent, Yata, Pi, Kuhn, and Shino.</div>

But overall, I like the story of .hack//G.U.. The movie doesn't bring much new elements for the fans, but I still think it’s worth watching.</div>

The art style is very much like the CG cut-scenes in the game, only a lot more hotter. The rendering seems much more smoother and definitely more hi-res. The animation seems a lot more fluid as well. Heck, even if you’re not a fan of .hack, you’d probably be impressed by how high quality it looks.</div>

I also have to give props on how much “better” AIDA-infected Atoli looks from the game. They really took it to another level and I was really impressed. I guess I’ll keep this one short. The music for the movie wasn’t anything memorable. There was very few times that I even noticed the background music at all. And even when I did notice the music, it wasn’t really that great for me. I do have the soundtrack for the movie and have yet to listen to it. Until then, I’ll have to say that the music was probably my least favorite part of the movie.</div>

The voice acting was pretty good though (although there wasn’t too many different voices to be heard). I’m used to playing the games with crappy English voice acting and felt refreshed listening to them in Japanese. I don’t mean to sound like a fanboy, but some of the voice acting in the American version of .hack//G.U. was pretty terrible. I’ve had multiple people agree with me on this so I know I’m not alone. =P</div>

Overall, I think this was a pretty good movie for the fans. I’m not sure how non-fans will react to it, but I can definitely say that fans and non-fans will not be watching the same movie. There’s so many things a fan who knows the story will pick up on that a non-fan will not and I think that makes a difference in this movie.</div>
